Margot Robbie Reportedly Set to Star in Tim Burton's ATTACK OF THE 50 FOOT WOMAN

It looks like Tim Burton has found his leading lady for his upcoming reimagining of the cult classic Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, and it’s none other than Margot Robbie.

According to Jeff Sneider of The InSneider newsletter, Robbie is set to star in the Warner Bros. film and will also produce it through her LuckyChap banner. This is going to be a fun and awesome project for her!

The original 1958 film starred Allison Hayes as Nancy Fowler Archer, a wealthy heiress who grows to towering proportions after a close encounter with an alien. Directed by Nathan Hertz from a screenplay by Mark Hanna, the movie earned a lasting spot in sci-fi history as a cult favorite.

The new version of Attack of the 50 Foot Woman has been in the works for a while. Back in February 2024, it was confirmed that Burton would direct the project, with Gone Girl writer Gillian Flynn initially attached to pen the script. However, the production is currently searching for a new writer since Flynn has moved on to other projects.

Robbie will produce alongside Burton, Wednesday producer Andrew Mittman, and Tommy Harper, with Kai Dolbashian serving as an executive producer.

This marks a big return to the spotlight for Robbie after her global success with Barbie, the highest-grossing movie of 2023. Robbie not only starred as the iconic doll but also helped turn the film into a cultural phenomenon. Barbie racked up eight Oscar nominations and took home a win for Best Original Song.

While Robbie hasn’t headlined a major release since then, she’s been busy filming several projects. Coming up, she stars alongside Colin Farrell in Kogonada’s A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, hitting theaters on September 19, 2025.

She’s also producing and starring in Wuthering Heights, a Gothic psychological drama based on Emily Brontë’s classic novel, written and directed by Oscar-winner Emerald Fennell. That film arrives on February 13, 2026 and features a strong supporting cast including Jacob Elordi, Owen Cooper, Shazad Latif, Hong Chau, and Alison Oliver.

No release date has been announced yet for Burton’s Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, but with Robbie on board, this remake just became a lot more exciting.
