Margot Robbie To Star in The BARBIE Movie with Patty Jenkins in Talks To Direct

The feature film adaptation of Barbie is moving forward with some big names. Margot Robbie is said to be attached to star in the film in the title role and Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is in talks to direct.

The film is currently being developed by Mattel and has yet to find a home at a studio. But, with Robbie and Jenkins on board, it won’t be hard for them to find a home. Insiders say it will most likely land at Warner Bros. since that’s where Robbie and Jenkins both have a strong relationship.

Amy Schumer was set to star in the movie back in 2014 and it was going to take the classic Barbie mythology and put a contemporary spin on the toy with an emphasis on feminism and identity. Schumer ended up dropping out of the project due to "scheduling conflicts." There’s no word if the script that was previously written will be the one used by Robbie and Jenkins. But, it’s said that first script had more of an adult comedy tone.

It seems like Robbie is the perfect actress to play Barbie and it only seemed like a matter of time before she teamed up with Jenkins on the project.

What do you think about these two working with each other on the Barbie movie?
