Marisa Tomei Hopes The MCU Multiverse Means She Can Return as Aunt May

It was an incredibly heartbreaking moment in Spider-Man: No Way Home when Aunt May was straight-up murdered by Green Goblin and she died in Peter Parker’s arms. That’s certainly a big story element that I wasn’t expecting, but Marisa Tomei would "love" to return to the world of Spider-Man as Aunt May again and she hopes that the MCU multiverse means that she can.

While appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Tomei was asked about May’s death and her possible return. This is what her response was:

"Oh yes, there is a Multiverse. That was part of the secrecy originally, now a lot of people know. But the thing was, if anyone asked me about it, I don’t understand the Multiverse myself. Our wonderful director, Jon, and I’m like 'And so, where am I now? Ok, well, can you explain it to me one more time?'

"I would love to come back and be a part of that. There’s history there, too. May Parker hooks up with Ant-Man. Well, I mean, she’s a standalone character, of course, but there are more avenues to explore."

Of course, there would be more to explore, but to keep the impact of May’s death meaningful, she should stay dead. Her death is what helps shape the future of Spider-Man, it’s a trauma that he was destined to go through and it would be a shame if Marvel ruined that powerful plot point by bringing her back.

That’s just my opinion. What do you all think? Do you think May should make her way back into the MCU?
