Mark Hamill and Kyle Mooney Have a Strange Father and Son Chat in First BRIGSBY BEAR Clip

Brigsby Bear was one of my favorite movies from Sundance this year. It was a strange film that pays tribute to imagination, creativity, and the art of film. Audiences are going to love this movie, especially those who have a passion for film.

The movie tells an offbeat, quirky story of a man named James (Kyle Mooney) who was raised in an underground bunker, off the grid, in the desert by two people who kidnapped him when he was a baby. He spent 25 years in this seclusion with extremely overprotective fake parents. Of course, he only knew them as mom and dad. The man who raised him is played by Mark Hamill. They also raised him on a fake TV show that they only produced for James called Brigsby Bear, which he's obsessed with.

This first clip takes place early on in the film and it features James having a talk with the man who he believes is his father. In the scene, they are sitting in a dome, which is a part of their home. It offers a view of the desert in which they reside and it keeps them safe from the poisoned environment. At least that's what James' parents tell him. The chat the two have revolves around the outside world and things get strange when you see the set up they have outside of the dome that they are talking in.

For a detailed description of the story that the film tells, you can read my review for the film. There's a lot more to it than the basic description above.

The film also stars Claire Danes (Homeland), Greg Kinnear (Little Miss Sunshine), Matt Walsh (Office Christmas Party) and Michaela Watkins (Casual, Enough Said). Brigsby Bear was written by Kevin Costello and Kyle Mooney and directed by Dave McCary. It will open in select theaters on July 28th. I also included some additional photos below the clip.

BRIGSBY BEAR Adventures is a children's TV show produced for an audience of one, James (Kyle Mooney). When the show abruptly ends, James' life changes forever and he sets out to finish the story himself. In theaters July 28th
