Mark Hamill Fan-Casts a Young Luke Skywalker

Mark Hamill recently got his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Shortly after, he was interviewed by Variety and asked questions such as if President Trump has ever responded to his tweets or when he figured out he was good at voice acting. One question that sticks out though is when he is asked who should play a young Luke Skywalker if they ever made a film about that. At first, he points to the most popular choice, Sebastian Stan. The image of Stan’s face photoshopped over Hamill’s is a very popular one spread across the Internet.

Hamill then mentions how Stan is more handsome and questions who would want a young Luke Skywalker film. He points out that Luke was bored out of his mind and wanted to get out of there, so who would want to see that? He does say:

Now, if they could do now where they have five or six plots and you’re cutting around what’s going on all around him and they keep cutting back to a really young Luke, I thought, the one I love is Jacob Tremblay.

Now, I don’t know what that kind of film would be like. Maybe it’d be good, but I would be too worried that we’d end up with something akin to the prequels. I personally do not want a young Luke Skywalker movie. I don’t care about him bullseye-ing womp rats and trying to go to Tosche Station for power converters. Then again, I didn’t want a young Han Solo movie and that’s being released this May. Do you want a Luke Skywalker movie? Who would be Luke? What story would you want it to tell?

Best known as the moisture farmer turned jedi hero Luke Skywalker in "Star Wars," Mark Hamill has been honored with a star on the iconic "Walk of Fame" sidewalk on Hollywood Boulevard. http://bit.ly/VarietySubscribe http://www.facebook.com/variety http://www.instagram.com/variety http://www.twitter.com/variety
