Mark Hamill Has Some Advice for STAR WARS Fans, But Will Anyone Take It?

People have been going ape-shit over everything Star Wars since Star Wars was first released in 1977. Now we have a series of new films in development that fans have been waiting for for years. To sweeten the pot, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher will be reprising their roles in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which is kind of a miracle if you think about it.

The anticipation is building, and we're all so insanely excited about the movie that we can hardly contain it. We still have a few months before the The Force Awakens is released and in a recent interview with the LA Times, Hamill spoke about the film, and offered some advice to the fans, telling us to “relax... It will be here before you know it.” He then advises to “forget about it.”

Um, riiiiiiiggght. I can guarantee that's not going to happen, Mark. You should know your fan base better than that. We've been crazy about Star Wars for years, we're not going to stop being crazy about it now.

Here’s the full quote of what he had to say about the anticipation of it:

I wish people would just relax. We’re not trying to play games with people. We just want to maximize their experience at the movies where it should be seen and not have it leaked over the Internet. Believe me, it will be here before you know it. Forget about it, that’s my advice. Look forward to all the summer movies. I’m telling you, it’s just a movie. These people that build it up in their minds like it’s going to be the second coming of, I don’t know what — they’re bound to be disappointed.

He went on to discuss the team of people who are bringing this project to life, saying:

It’s exciting from the standpoint that it’s the first of the movies in that universe that’s conceived and directed by the fan generation. We’ve never had that before. Now, Larry Kasdan is one of the old-timers like us, but the captain of the ship is J.J. Abrams and he was a fan of the series, which I find very interesting. They’re going to have an input into how things are done in a way that was impossible in the more autonomous period of George’s [Lucas] reign. I hope it’s a hit!

I will admit that it would be kind of nice not to think about Star Wars: The Force Awakens or get excited because it would make time go by faster. But it's Star Wars for cryin' out loud! It's everywhere! In the end, I enjoy feeling the anticipation. It's fun to thing about, write about, and talk about.

Is anyone going to take Hamill up on his advice?
