Mark Hamill Regrets Criticizing Rian Johnson's Vision of Luke Skywalker in THE LAST JEDI
Mark Hamill hasn't been shy about sharing his concerns over how Rian Johnson handled Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. He has said that he wasn't 100% satisfied with how Luke Skywalker was portrayed in the film, at one point he even said that he was insulted, and he most recently made the comment that this was not his Luke Skywalker.
In a recent comment that he posted on his Twitter feed, he says that he regrets voicing his doubts in public and admits that Johnson made an "all-time GREAT" Star Wars movie. You can read what he had to say below:
I regret voicing my doubts & insecurities in public.Creative differences are a common element of any project but usually remain private. All I wanted was to make good movie. I got more than that- @rianjohnson made an all-time GREAT one! #HumbledHamill https://t.co/8ujJfBuEdV

I wonder if Disney got to him and told him to stop talking crap about the movie. Like most Star Wars fans, Hamill is passionate about the character and like us he had his own ideas of where Luke should have gone in his journey. Johnson's vision obviously didn't mesh with what a lot of the fans had imagined for the character, so many of them feel like Hamill. That's understandable, but what's done is done.
I should point out that Hamill only regrets saying what he said in public. He's not taking it back, he's not trying to say that his quotes were taken out of context. He still stands by what he has said but he wishes he wouldn't have shared them with the world.
In the end, he admits that The Last Jedi turns out to be one of the best, which I agree with. I know not everyone agrees with my opinion on the film, but that's cool. It's good that there are different colors of personalities in the world with different opinions.
