Mark Millar Says The New AQUAMAN Trailer Makes Modern Marvel Look Like 70s TV Marvel

Mark Millar made an interesting comment about the new Aquaman trailer that was released last week which is sure to make for an interesting debate. He says that Aquaman makes modern Marvel movies look like the Marvel TV films from the 70s. Here’s here’s his full comment:

As excited as I am for Aquaman and as awesome as it looks, this is a ridiculous statement. Yes, the visuals are stunning! But, we still have yet to see if the script and story are actually good. You can have the craziest awesome visuals ever, but it’s all a waste if the story is crap.

I trust that James Wan will deliver a great script and story, though, but we’ll just have to wait and see. After all, we’ve seen awesome trailers for mediocre DC films before.

Also, in my opinion, DC was already back in the game with Wonder Woman. That is the film that set the studio on the course of fixing their problems, which led to James Wan taking on Aquaman.

Over the past ten years Marvel Studio has created and built something unprecedented and no one has been able to do what they have done. Studios have tried and failed to build cinematic universes like Marvel has. It’s funny how people forget so quickly at what Marvel has accomplished.

If Aquaman turns out to be the epically amazing movie that I think it will be, then awesome! But to say that it makes modern Marvel look like 70s Marvel is just silly.

What do you think of Millar’s statement?
