Mark Ruffalo Asked Rian Johnson if He Could be in STAR WARS

Writer and director Rian Johnson is hard at work developing Star Wars: Episodes VIII and IX for Lucasfilm, and in this early process actors are already asking to be in the franchise. One of these actors is Mark Ruffalo, who plays the Hulk in the Marvel films. He also worked with Johnson on a spectacular little film called The Brothers Bloom, which you need to see if you haven't already.

Ruffalo admitted to emailing the director to congratulate him on the job and also let him know that he’d love to be involved. Johnson then responded on Twitter. This is what the actor had to say in an interview with Collider:

"My e-mail to Rian after all these years was, 'Rian, congratulations on everything you’ve been doing.  And by the way, if there’s a part in Star Wars, please, anything, please consider considering me to join you.'"

He also said he'd be cool with it even if it was just a CG character. Here's Johnson's Twitter response:

"I don't know, Mark... @garywhitta tells me he has you booked up for the next 8 years on his Columbo franchise?"

This led to Warcraft director Duncan Jones responding with:

"Darth Hulk!"

And screenwriter Gary Whitta chiming in with:

"May The Falk Be With You!"

It's a lot of joking around, but in all seriousness, if Johnson does find a role for Ruffalo, you can bet he'll give it to him.
