Mark Wahlberg Will Play Sully in Director Travis Knight's UNCHARTED Movie

Mark Wahlberg is set to star alongside Tom Holland in director Travis Knight’s feature film adaption of the hit video game Uncharted. Wahlberg will take on the role of young Nathan Darke’s mentor, Victor “Sully” Sullivan.

Sully is described as an “American treasure hunter, fortune seeker and businessman, as well as a friend, mentor and father figure to Drake.” What’s interesting about this casting is that Wahlberg was originally cast in the role of Nathan Drake years ago when the film was being developed by director David O. Russell.

Holland is playing a younger version of Nathan Drake, “a treasure hunter who journeys across the world to uncover various historical mysteries” and the film will tell “an origin story that evolves out of the game but is not from the game." It will follow the character as he grows into the treasure hunter that we know from the game.

As a fan of Knight’s previous film work like Bumblebee and Kubo and the Two Strings, I hope that he can actually pull this off and give us a great Uncharted movie regardless of the disappointing direction that the studio wants to take it.

The script for the film was written by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway (Iron Man) and Rafe Judkins (Agents of SHIELD). The movie will go into production early next year, and it will be released on December 18th, 2020.
