Martian Manhunter May Be Coming to the Silver Screen

In a recent interview with CBR, Charles Roven (a producer who has worked on Justice League, Wonder Woman, and the Dark Knight trilogy) was asked, “What’s the most unusual property in the DC toy box that you would love to bring to film? Maybe not a marquis character, but a deeper dive choice?” Roven responded with the following:

I wouldn’t necessarily say that I would rather do that character, because we know that there is going to be a Flash movie, we know that Aquaman is being done, I think that Cyborg deserves his own movie too, and I know that the fans are out there screaming for Green Lantern, that’s for sure. But I was always a fan of J’onn J’onzz, Manhunter from Mars.

A J’onn J’onzz movie could be awesome. I was first introduced to the character in the animated Justice League series from the early 2000’s and for a while, he was my favorite. With the ability to shapeshift, fly, phase through objects, and more, he was like a less bland Superman for me. Then in Justice League Unlimited, J’onzz went through some great character development to further endear the character to me. The real question is, if they made this movie, what would it cover? Would it be him landing on Earth and trying to fit in and figure things out? Would it be his backstory and end with him fleeing Mars? It is important to note that this is not a confirmed movie coming up in the DCEU. If it does happen though, who should play J’onn J’onzz and what story should be told?
