Martin Lawrence is Developing a Sequel To The Action Comedy BLUE STREAK with Sony Pictures

After the successful run with Bad Boys: Ride Or Die, Sony Pictures is getting back into business with Martin Lawrence to develop a sequel to the 1999 buddy action comedy Blue Streak.

The script for the project is currently being written by Cole Masika and Deadline is reporting that the film is in early development with no other talent involved.

In the original film, Lawrence played Miles Logan, a jewel thief who, after a heist gone wrong, hides a stolen diamond in the ventilation shaft of a building under construction.

Two years later, upon his release from prison, Miles discovers that the building is now a police station. Determined to retrieve the diamond, he goes undercover as a detective, posing as an LAPD officer.

As he navigates the role, his street smarts and quick thinking inadvertently lead to him becoming a celebrated cop, complicating his plans to recover the gem.

I remember the first movie being fun, but it’s been a long time since I’ve seen it and I’ve only seen it once. Does it need a sequel after all these years? No. But maybe something entertaining will come out of it.

Lawrence is also producing the film along with Robert Lawrence, Rae Proctor and Stacy Lyles as well as Toby Jaffe.

Is anyone excited to hear that we’re getting a Blue Streak sequel!?
