Martin Scorsese's THE IRISHMAN Named Best Film of 2019 by National Board of Review

The National Board of Review has released their best of 2019 pick, and at the top of that list is Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman. The film has been named Best Film of the year, and it also landed Best Screenplay as well. Other winners included Quentin Tarantino for Best Director, while Adam Sander, Renée Zellweger, Brad Pitt, and Kathy Bates picked up acting awards.

I liked The Irishman, the story is fascinating, and Scorsese did a great job telling it. But does it deserve best picture of the year? In my opinion… no. It probably won’t even make my top ten list. I just think that Scorsese has made better films in his career. But, it was great to see him tell this story and bring in an incredible cast to bring these characters to life. I was especially happy to see Joe Pesci in a movie again. The rest of the cast includes Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Ray Romano, Harvey Keitel, Anna Paquin, Bobby Cannavale, and Stephen Graham.

You can read through the list of winners below. After you’re done, let us know what you think about The Irishman. Do you think it is the best film of the year?
