Marvel and Sony Reportedly Having a Dispute Over Showing "Them" in Next SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME Trailer
In case you’ve been wondering why we haven’t seen a new Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer yet, an interesting new report has surfaced from CinemaBlend’s Sean O’Connell. According to him, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are having a little dispute over what to put in the trailer.
It’s rumored that one studio wants to show “Them” in the trailer, and the other studio doesn’t. In case you’re wondering who “Them” is, that would be Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. I’m still not 100% convinced they are in the movie, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Hell, maybe we’ll see them in the next trailer!
It’s not clear which studio wants to show "Them” and which studio doesn’t, but if this is true, my guess is that Marvel wants to keep any surprises a secret, while Sony is more than willing show their hand. They’ve already done it with the Morbius trailer by including by including Vulture.
Personally, if there are any crazy surprises in the movie, I would rather not have it spoiled in a trailer. I hate that crap. The thing is, Sony handles the marketing for the Spider-Man films, so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. A new trailer will eventually be released, and it’ll be interesting to see what that trailer includes.
When previously talking about Spider-Man: No Way Home in a recent interview, the Marvel studios present Kevin Feige warned:
“Rumors are fun, because many of them are true, and many of them are not true. The danger is when you get into the expectations game of wanting people to be excited about the movie they get, and not disappointed about a movie they don’t get.”
The upcoming movie sees Peter Parker team up with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange as they deal with a big issue when they find themselves in a wild multiverse adventure. That includes facing off with several Spider-Man villains from different universes. Some of those villains include Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, Jamie Foxx’s Electro, and possibly Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin and Thomas Haden Church as Sandman.
The movie is being directed by Jon Watts, and the cast also includes Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, Tony Revolori as Flash, and Hannibal Buress as Coach Wilson.
