Marvel Breaks Its Silence On Uncanny Inhumans #1
If there is a positive to be had from Fox owning the X-Men movie rights, it has to be the newly-placed importance of Marvel's Inhumans. They were pretty much forgotten about until Abnett and Lanning brought a resurgence to Marvel's cosmic universe, but once Marvel lost the movie rights to their X characters, all of a sudden the Inhumans' place in the Marvel U started to grow by leaps and bounds. It began a renaissance of these admittedly fantastic characters, and after Secret Wars, that doesn't look to change. In fact, now they have some additional reinforcements, including Human Torch and former X-Man Beast.
Writer Charles Soule (Death of Wolverine) and artist Steve McNiven are at the helm of the new book, and it all launches with what they call a "gigantic event" that happens presumably at some point during Secret Wars. Soule handled Wolverine's recent death well, and McNiven's art always impresses. Plus, I love how the Inhuman books have always mixed the feel of a medieval kingdom with crazy technology and superpowers. You can catch the full pitch below, and Uncanny Inhumans will launch later this fall.
Eight months have passed. From her throne on New Attilan, Queen Medusa and her new paramour Johnny Storm seek to bolster Human and Inhuman relations with the world’s eyes upon them. Yet in the shadows, the Midnight King has other plans. Black Bolt now runs covert operations in service of a larger, more mysterious goal. What is he up to? Meanwhile, what could have happened between Inhumans and Mutants to make Beast join up with the Inhumans? Did we mention Kang the Conqueror, the most dangerous villain throughout Marvel’s history seeks to exploit the Inhumans for his own gain?
