Marvel Casting FIGHTING WITH MY FAMILY Star Florence Pugh in BLACK WIDOW
Last week it was reported that Marvel Studios was looking at Emma Watson (Harry Potter), Alice Englert (Beautiful Creatures), Dar Zuzovsky (Hostages, Neighborhood), and Florence Pugh (Fighting With My Family) to star alongside Scarlett Johansson in Black Widow.
Well, THR is reporting that Pugh is their choice and she is now in talks to join the movie. She was my favorite choice of the names mentioned above, so I’m pretty happy that she is the one that the studio went with. One of the reasons why the studio went with her was because of the strong reviews that she’s been getting for her role in Fighting With My Family.
The second female in Black Widow has been described as a “kick ass female Bond” type character. They were looking for an actress that is capable of a playing a physically demanding role who is said to also “feel similar to star Scarlet Johansson.”
I think Pugh perfectly fits what they were looking for. She’s already proven that she has what it takes to kick some ass.
There aren’t really any details on the story, but it’s said to be be “an internationally set story centering on Natasha Romanoff, a spy and assassin who grew up being trained by the KGB before breaking from their grasp and becoming an agent of SHIELD and Avenger.
We don’t know any details on who Pugh will play, but the report says that she will be “a spy on the same level as Romanoff, likely her moral opposite.”
Black Widow is being directed by Cate Shortland from a script written by Jac Schaeffer. The movie is expected to be released at some point in 2020.
