Marvel Comics Reveals STAR WARS REBELS 10th Anniversary Variant Covers
Star Wars Rebels has been on the minds of a lot of fans recently with Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: Ahsoka series continuing that story with live-action versions of many of the beloved characters.
Well, it’s been ten years since Star Wars Rebels launched, and it’s pretty crazy to think that it’s been that long! In celebration of the show’s 10th anniversary, Marvel Comics has released a collection of variant covers created by acclaimed comic artist Caspar Wijngaard.
Depicting the beloved cast of the series, the "Star Wars Rebels 10th Anniversary Variant Covers" will adorn issues of Marvel's ongoing Star Wars and Star Wars: Darth Vader comic books between January and April.
Wijngaard said in a statement: "It was such an honor to be involved in the 10th anniversary for Rebels, having recently revisited the adventures of the Spectres in preparation for Ashoka, this opportunity was perfect timing. We’ve been absolutely spoiled with Rebels content these last few weeks and I’m glad i could be a part of it in some way."
The animated series takes place between the events of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. The series follows a ragtag group of rebels as they come together aboard the starship Ghost to oppose the oppressive Galactic Empire. Ezra Bridger is a central character in the series, a young orphan with sensitivity to the Force, who joins the crew and begins training as a Jedi under Kanan Jarrus, one of the last surviving Jedi from the Order's purge.
Throughout its run, Star Wars Rebels delves into the growing Rebel Alliance, the dark reach of the Empire, and the ancient lore of the Force.
