Marvel Comics Writer Rick Remender Shares His Unused AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and X-MEN Story Pitches

Marvel Comics writer Rick Remender parted ways with the company back in 2014. He left behind an amazing legacy of comic book stories that involved the likes of X-ForceUncanny Avengers, and The Punisher. In his time there, he never had the chance to write for Spider-Man, but he did pitch a story for it back in 2009 that sounds like it would have been pretty spectacular!

The writer also shared an excerpt from an old bible story, which would have seen him taking over the X-Men franchise for a two year period before he ended up leaving the company. He also revealed that he was approached by Marvel Comics in 2019 to oversee the franchise, but he declined.

As far as his Spider-Man story goes, it was titled “Pandora’s Box” and would have followed Peter Parker as he learned that the company responsible for irradiating the spider that gave him superpowers did the same to a number of other people as well using insects such Red Ant, Parasite Worm, Toxic Beetle, and Black Wasp.

After spending years in captivity, these people with powers are released and the story would have focused on the fallout from their descent into madness.

This is an awesome story and one that I would have loved to see get told, but Remender now has no interest in writing it. I would have loved to see how this story would play out. It just wasn’t meant to be.
