Marvel Fans Launch a Humorous Petition To Get Hawkeye Included in the Marketing For AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

I'll never understand the petitions that are started by fanboys and fangirls. It's not like they ever work! Once the studio or creative team have a plan in place for how they want to handle a movie, a petition isn't going to change their minds.

The latest petition that has been started, which knows it is meaningless and is actually kind of funny, is asking for Marvel and Disney to include Hawkeye in the marketing for Avengers: Infinity War. I'm well aware that this is an April Fools Day petition, and in a way, it makes fun of all those other crazy petitions that have been started by fans. But, I do know a lot of fans that really feel this way about Hawkeye being left out of the marketing, and it does open up a conversation about how Marvel is handling the character. On top of that, almost a 1000 people have signed the petition so people do seem to care... even if it is done jokingly.

I personally enjoy the fact that Hawkeye is being kept out of the marketing. The whole mystery surrounding the character and his role in the story is what makes this all so much fun! Hell, we don't even know for a fact if Hawkeye is even in the movie! I like that the lack of Hawkeye leads to some fun conversations and theories about what Marvel is planning for the character. I don't think the lack of marketing is harming the character at all. I think it is actually strengthening the character as the mystery behind him continues to build. It also offers fans the opportunity to have fun with it like this petition.

If you are interested in reading the entertaining tongue and cheek petition, here ya go:

To Marvel/Disney, Keven Fiege and the so called Russo Bros.
We the signees, call on Walter Disney to include Hawkeye, an OT Avenger, the link that holds the team and the MCU together, in the marketing materials for Avengers Infinity War. On this day, April 1st, fans can no longer tolerate the absence of the strongest Avenger from the Infinity War trailers, posters and that sweet, sweet merchandise such as popcorn buckets.
We ask this with the utmost respect, and in no way seek to harm the profitability of Infinity War, or the reputations of those who work hard at Dinsey co. to provide MCU fans with a new movie like every other month (seriously like, Black Panthers still in theatres). Anyways, we are just MCU fans, we are not marketing execs or film critics, we dont have any interest in influencing creative direction, we just know the lack of Hawks when we see it.
We accept that a lot of characters in Infinity War need marketed and included, but as an Avenger introduced during the 4th film in the MCU (did y'all else know he was in Thor? I sure didnt till now) we feel he should be atleast given one single out of focus blurry frame in a trailer or tv spot. We as members of this fandom have supported Marvel (well only the MCU films, but you know how it is Fox), and the cast and crew involved in providing all these movies. We have supported the movies distributed in the theatres with multiple viewings and defended MCU Films in the public domain, when to be fair a lot of others agree and like the movies too, so its not actually been that tough.
We realise that certain decisions often have to be made for financial reasons, which can in some instances impact the creative process. Jeremy Renner is an expensive and busy guy (did yous see that Tag movie trailer, looks pretty decent). It should be clarified at this point that we are not pursuing an Renner cut, or Hawkeye edition, but instead a movie trailer where Hawkeye receives a minimum of 2.5 lines.
The problems that we the signatories have with the current marketing of Infinity War are not ones to do with movie length or content, but to do with the absence of my dude Hawkeye. The problems we have identified can be categorised into two groups:
1. No Hawkeye
We understand the story of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, the Guardians, the Black Panther guys, Mister Dr Strange, Ant-Man (wait a minute he's no in this marketing either) Falcon, War Machine, Spider-Man,  etc. And we understand that eventually we are totally going to get a Hawkeye solo movie for 2039, however we recognise that the Disney council has made a decision to remove Hawkeye from marketing in Infinity War but given that it's a stupid ass decision we have elected to rise up, and a meaningless petition is the only way we know how!
We believe that in past scenes in previous movies Hawkeye has not been given justice. The inclusion of mind control in such as that in the first Avengers movie was quite frankly offensive. The scene where Hawkeye shoots at and misses Black Widow was in the least distasteful, and certainly an insult to the character of Hawkeye. That in 2018, such attempts at this character are seen as acceptable or funny is an indictment on where we are as a society. We believe Marvel can, should and will be better than that.
As mentioned we are fans of MCU Films, not just in name, but also with our monies. We have bought theatre tickets for Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk (actually I never saw this one), Iron Man 2 (yeah i missed this one too), Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger (another one I actually missed, I'm sure other people saw it tho), The Avengers (this is kinda where i started watching other than iron man), Iron Man 3,
Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming (actually saw this one twice), Thor: Ragnarok , Black Panther, and obviously going to see Infinity War if it features Hawkeye on multiple occasions; copies on home video; and merchandise. We are invested in this universe, and we expect that there is an element of continuity. We believe a number of elements from Hawkeyes origin were not paid off in the theatrical cut of Avengers. We were sold a conclusion to his story in the trailers and these elements were not in the film at all. We believe this would not have been the case had Jeremy Renner's vision been allowed to come to fruition.
2. Actually its literally just point number 1
Yeah, i dunno why I said 2 things, it's really all just point 1.

Recommendation
Having explained our grievances, we want to put the positive case forward for allowing Hawkeye to be included in marketing, both for the fans and Disney. We understand that making and marketing movies is not cheap, however we also understand (based on reports, articles, /r/marvelstudios constant shitposts, and footage from previous movies) that there is enough recorded and edited material at the disposal of Disney to allow some form Hawkeye to be included in a trailer/poster. Based on the number of signatories to this petition (I'm expecting atleast half a dozen) you now know that there is demand for Hawkeye, which could be profitable considering the dozens of Hawkeye fans who will now come see this movie.
We also acknowledge the question that releasing another version of a movie trailer that had already been released but with Hawkeye digitally inserted may cause confusion. However, we believe that Disney have already in place perfect ways to avoid such confusion: either releasing the trailer on the down low under cover of darkness; or using the money you bribe critics with to make people frgot about the 1st trailer (i.e. simply stating that the events of the first trailer took place in an alternate world or timeline).
We hope you will take our request for a Hawkeye's cut of Infinity War with to heart. We love MCU Films and have thus far been fans and supporters of the franchise. We respect Disney and understand that a change in direction may be what is needed for the long term success of MCU Films, but we also hope that you will allow us to get closure to a story arc we love so much.
Please Disney, #JusticeForHawkeye
