Marvel Has (Nascent) Plans for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 3

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hasn’t even wrapped production yet, but Marvel has plans for Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige told iO9 that although they are understandably focused on their current slate of films that have already been announced (and that is already kind of a lot), they are keeping an eye out for future projects, and Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is on the list. Here is the quote:

“We’re only working on what’s been announced through the end of 2019. And it is still a big chess board for 2020 and beyond, but certainly I would say Guardians 3 is [one film that’s] up there. I don’t know what exactly the order will be.”

So, before we get GOTG3 we will see Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, both Infinity Wars, and (maybe?) Inhumans. Plus the possibility of whatever other films are in Phase 4. Good hell, Kevin FeIge is a busy man.

It may be a long wait, but it is worth it to spend some more time with Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot. Plus, director James Gunn has said that he has a story in mind for a third Guardians film, and I am very much curious about that. It is, of course, still possible that we may encounter some of our favorite cosmic characters in Infinity Wars, but we’ll have to see about that.
