Marvel Hears the Concerns of Fans and Addresses Captain America's Turn to Hydra

For those of you who keep up to date with Marvel Comics, you might have noticed that Captain America is now Hydra. Not just toying with the idea of Hydra or starting to side with Hydra. SPOILER ALERT:

He leads Hydra now and he's just taken over the world. This has upset a lot of people. People look at Captain America as the symbol of good and righteousness. He represents America for heavens sake! Marvel Comics has heard the complaints of the fans and has recently addressed them. Here's the recently released statement to all their butt hurt- er- "concerned" fanboys.

With Marvel Comics' 'Secret Empire,' the forces of Hydra have taken over and, due to the villainous actions of the Red Skull, have manipulated Marvel's greatest hero, Captain America, and forced him to adopt their cause. At Marvel, we want to assure all of our fans that we hear your concerns about aligning Captain America with Hydra and we politely ask you to allow the story to unfold before coming to any conclusion.
Captain America, will always be a cornerstone of the Marvel Universe who will stand up for what is right, and 'Secret Empire' will be the biggest challenge Steve has ever faced.
What you will see at the end of this journey is that his heart and soul -- his core values, not his muscle or his shield -- are what save the day against Hydra and will further prove that our heroes will always stand against oppression and show that good will always triumph over evil.

Sounds good to me. I personally haven't really been worried that the Cap has been changing, but I feel the message they are sending is good. I actually have enjoyed the Dark Cap saga. It has been really interesting to see someone who we see as the ultimate good have his morals be twisted for something dark. He still stands up for the little guy, but who he views as the little guy, and who he views as the bully is different. I especially feel that having Cap turn at a time where America's values are often questioned by Americans and non-Americans alike, allows us to look into ourselves and see what sort of world we want to promote.

More than anything, I see a cool and interesting story. I know many people have issues and think that Marvel is trying to promote an agenda. But in the end, I think Marvel wants to tell an interesting and compelling story. That's what they've always been about... and making money, but that's beside the point. Are there political tones in this comic arc? Maybe, but that's because it's relevant and writers write what they see in the world around them. I was devastated and furious when Spider-man was taken over by Doc Ock, but by the end, I was enthralled and fascinated. Trust the writers. Trust the Story. Don't judge until you've gotten through the whole story. That's my own thought at least. I am just excited to see the next chapter of the Marvel Universe.
