Marvel Hires a New Screenwriter for THOR: RAGNAROK

Marvel is looking to polish up the Thor: Ragnarok script, which written by Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle. The studio has hired screenwriter Stephany Folsom to work on it as well. She is best known for her 2013 Black List script 1969: A Space Odyssey or How Kubrick Learned to Stop Worrying and Land on the Moon, which tells an alternate history story of a publicist who convinces director Stanley Kubrick to work with NASA in order to fake the moon landing.

Folsom is the latest female writer to join the Marvel fold. She joins Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (Inside Out), who are in the process of writing the script for Captain Marvel. I guess Marvel feels that Thor: Ragnarok could use a woman's touch, which would make sense if they are bringing some strong female characters into the story. There have been rumors that Valkyrie could make her big screen debut and there’s another major female villain that could be introduced. It hasn’t been revealed who yet, but my money is on Enchantress.

Taika Waititi, who co-wrote and co-directed the vampire spoof What We Do In the Shadows, is set to helm the third installment of Marvel’s Thor movies. Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as the god of thunder, and he will be joined by Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk. This is a team-up that is sure to have awesome results.

Thor: Ragnarok is set to be released on July 28th, 2017. To catch up on all our previous news on this film, click here.
