Marvel Is Looking to Cast Bob Odenkirk in WONDER MAN Series in Undisclosed Role

Five months ago, we reported that Marvel was developing a live-action Wonder Man series with Shang Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton as a producer and Andrew Guest (Hawkeye) serving as head writer and executive producer.

Now we hear from The Illuminerdi that they are looking to cast Bob Odenkirk of Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and Nobody fame in an undisclosed role. It was also learned this week that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has been tapped for the lead role of Simon Williams, aka Wonder Man.

We also know the series is set to bring back Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery who reunites with the Shang-Chi director. The inclusion of Trevor Slattery and the role these sources are saying Bob Odenkirk is set to play, lead us to believe that the series will greatly focus on the acting career of Simon Williams.

In the comics, Simon Williams is an actor and stuntman. Nathan Fillion was also featured in the MCU previously as Simon Williams on a poster for the movie Akron, which is a role the character famously portrayed in the comics. Though we now know Fillion is not Simon Williams, it is important to note the MCU’s focus on the character being an actor. Actors have agents, of course, but they also have managers, which is the role these sources say Odenkirk is in talks to portray.

This honestly sounds like a perfect role for Odenkirk that’s not too far off of the smarmy Saul Goodman character we know and love him for. It will be cool to see how this all pans out. Are you looking forward to Wonder Man?
