Marvel Movies Will No Longer Be Released on Netflix Starting With CAPTAIN MARVEL

One of the biggest questions and concerns for Marvel fans after Disney announced their streaming service has been what it meant for the future of Netflix, which is where fans have been able to watch all kinds of Marvel movie greatness.

Thanks to the New York Times, we've learned some new details about how things will work out between the Marvel movies, Netflix, and Disney's service. They report that the first Marvel Studios film that will be offered exclusively through Disney's service will be Captain Marvel. Netflix won't get any more of the MCU films after that. The last film that Netflix will get is Ant-Man and the Wasp.

The report says, "Starting with 'Captain Marvel' in March, all of the films that Walt Disney Studios releases in theaters will subsequently flow to the Disney streaming platform instead of to Netflix." That obviously will include all of the Star Wars films as well. Most fans with common sense expected this to be the case.

I'm not going to worry about Netflix though. Netflix is going to be just fine without Disney's movies. It just means the consumers are going to have to sign up for another new streaming service and it seems like it will be worth it with all of the content that they have coming to it, especially with the purchase of Fox and all of their assets.

However, you will be happy to learn that "There are 'no current plans' to move Marvel-themed television shows off Netflix." That could eventually change, but as of right now those darker Marvel shows will still be released on Netflix. 

Disney plans to launch their streaming service in 2019, and once that happens everything will become a lot clearer.
