How Sam Wilson's Role in CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD Will Lead Into AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY

We are gearing up for the next two Avengers event films, which means the stories in the next several Marvel movies will lead into the epic showdown of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. In every Avengers film in the past, we have had Captain America at the lead, and this upcoming set of adventures will be no different.

We are less than two weeks away from Captain America: Brave New World, where Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson will next take on the mantle of Captain America once more. He has already been confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, and Marvel producer Nate Moore has spoken a bit about Sam's journey between now and when he will have to step up to lead Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in their next great battle.

Moore said in the video below (via CBM): "It's no secret we're starting to build to Avengers 5 and I think there's never been an Avengers movie where there's not a Captain America at the center of it.

“So, this is about Sam Wilson showing the world that he is deserving of the mantle and why he's both Captain America and not Steve Rogers.

“And I think he's going to take the skills from this film and figure out how he can be helpful as the Avengers fight a new threat."

It's previously been confirmed that there is no official Avengers team when Captain America: Brave New World begins, with President "Thunderbolt" Ross eager for Sam to assemble a new team. Hopefully, a post-credits scene will set the stage for that.

We will just have to wait and see how this all works out for Cap. I look forward to seeing how he handles the team, and everything the world has to throw at him.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released in May 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars scheduled to arrive in May 2027.
