Marvel Producer Nate Moore Explains Why ARMOR WARS Is Now Being Made Into a Movie Instead of TV Series

Two months ago, it was announced that the Marvel project Armor Wars that was previously rolled out as a Disney+ series is now being developed as a full film. According to the original report, the change was made because the studio was committed to “getting the story told the right way and in that process realized that a feature was better suited for the project.”

Now we have a bit of a deeper insight as to why the change was made. In a recent interview on The Town with Matthew Belloni podcast, Marvel producer Nate Moore (Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) opened up to talk about why Armor Wars is the kind of project that needs to be a film versus a series.

"When you're talking about a show that wants to be about seeing all the cool armors and Don Cheadle interacting with all these armors and, sort of, the legacy of Tony Stark? That became kind of cost prohibitive to do as a show."

Moore went on to say that Armor Wars will likely wind up launching another multi-film story arc, like the recently concluded Infinity Saga. He also talked about how much easier it will be to bring certain moments from the comic book series the story is based on to life with less money-related restrictions.

"We realized as a feature, not only can we get into some of the beautiful imagery that is from publishing, and there's certainly an Armor Wars run, but also there's ways then to leverage the ideas of that movie and affect other movies down the line." 

Little is known about Marvel's adaptation of Armor Wars, but we do know it will be a sequel to Secret Invasion. Yassir Lester is writing the script, and Don Cheadle is reprising his MCU role of James Rhodes, with Walton Goggins returning to reprise his role as Sonny Burch from Ant-Man and the Wasp.
