Marvel Reportedly Casts Harriet Sansom Harris as a Villain in WEREWOLF BY NIGHT Series
A new piece of news has surfaced for Marvel’s upcoming Disney+ series Werewolf By Night. According to insider Daniel Richtman, Harriet Sansom Harris (Frasier, Desperate Housewives) is set to play a villain in the series, "an evil cult leader named Verrusa. She’s said to lead a cult from the house of Bloodstone.
Verrusa is not a character from Marvel Comics, but the name Bloodstone has certainly popped up with a character named Elsa Bloodstone, who is a monster hunter that appears in the comics. Else is also rumored to appear in the series.
Old actor Gael Garcia Bernal is set to star in the series, and he’ll most likely be playing the Jack Russell version of Werewolf By Night. It’s also been reported in the past that Nina Price, a.k.a. Vampire By Night, a vampire-werewolf hybrid who happens to be Russell's niece in the comics.
The Jack Russell version of the character is a victim of an ancient family curse and struggled for years with his bestial alter-ego. “But over time has conquered his inner demons. Now he fights the dark forces that plague our world. He is an enforcer of justice, an avenger of shadows, and a Werewolf By Night.”
The character is capable of transforming into a werewolf at will while retaining his human intellect. There are a lot of unconfirmed reports online regarding this Marvel Halloween Special, including Mahershala Ali appearing as Blade in the series.
Regardless of the rumors and speculation, it’s going to be a lot of fun whatever it ends up being. This is just such a fun character!
