Marvel Reportedly Cut a Line From THE MARVELS Confirming Captain Marvel and Valkyrie Relationship
Some new details have surfaced regarding a few plot elements from The Marvels that ended up being cut from the movie. One involves Kamala Khan being tortured by the villain Dar-Benn and the other involves a line that confirms Captain Marvel and Valkyrie were in a past relationship.
This information comes from insider CanWeGetSomeToast and it confirms a fan theory that Captain Marvel and Valkyrie were once in a relationship. There’s a scene in the film where Captain Marvel calls for Valkyrie for some help and there is a line of dialogue that was cut from that scene where one of them says to the other, “We work better as friends.” Marvel and Disney obviously felt that the line didn’t work and it would have opened a whole big thing that would never really ever be explored in the MCU since it happened in the past. Regardless, fans seem to catch the hints in the scene without that line of dialogue.
The report also shared other plot elements cut from the film including how “Kamala wasn’t able to take off her bangle and was imprisoned/tortured by Dar-Benn.”
It was also explained that “Prince Yan was supposed to gift each of The Marvels with a new suit, right before gathering his army. Monica had her comic accurate wings at first, but it was too much for her so she tore them off.”
The last one is that “Kamala’s new suit originally turned into a space-suit, which would’ve been used to join Carol and Monica to close the rip in space-time TOGETHER.”
These are all interesting little things that were changed in the story but I don’t think any of them would’ve made the film any better or any worse. It also wouldn’t have changed the outcome of the super-low box office numbers. The movie box office dropped 75% in its second week.
It’s pretty crazy because this movie is actually fun! The Marvels is certainly not the worst movie in the MCU, but audiences obviously aren’t interested in these characters.
