Marvel Rumor Claims Margot Robbie Could Be in Talks for a Major MCU Role
Could Margot Robbie be heading from the world of DC to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? A new rumor making the rounds online suggests that Marvel Studios may be looking at the Oscar-nominated actress for a significant role in the MCU, sparking plenty of fan speculation about who she could potentially play.
The rumor comes from scooper MyTimeToShineHello, who posted on X, “Margot Robbie is in talks for a big Marvel role.”
As of now, there’s no official confirmation from Marvel Studios or Robbie herself. Still, the possibility of seeing one of Hollywood’s biggest stars join the MCU is enough to get fans talking.
Robbie is, of course, best known to comic book movie audiences for her portrayal of Harley Quinn across several DC films. If this latest rumor turns out to be accurate, it would mark a major shift into Marvel territory for the actress.
Interestingly, this wouldn’t be the first time Robbie’s name has been connected to a Marvel project. Reports previously claimed that she was offered the role of Sue Storm, also known as the Invisible Woman, in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Robbie passed on the opportunity, and the role ultimately went to Vanessa Kirby, who is set to continue playing the character in Avengers: Doomsday.
That wasn’t the only time Robbie stepped away from a Fantastic Four project, either. Years before Marvel Studios took control of the franchise, Robbie was also considered for a role in Josh Trank’s 2015 reboot of Fantastic Four.
Looking back on that experience during an interview, Robbie explained that the screenplay simply didn’t connect with her.
“I didn’t really resonate with the script, and I haven’t seen the movie, so I don’t really know how it turned out different from the page. But I had a great meeting with the director [Josh Trank], and I really enjoyed that. I guess it’s part of the game: Sometime you win some, sometimes you lose some.”
The MCU isn’t the only Marvel-related conversation Robbie has been linked to over the years. Back in 2022, a report from the fake news site Giant Freakin Robot claimed that she was being considered for Emma Frost, the powerful telepathic mutant who has spent years shifting between villain, antihero, and X-Men ally in Marvel Comics.
Emma Frost remains one of the most popular X-Men characters yet to make her MCU debut, and fans have often pointed to Robbie as a strong casting choice. Whether that’s the role being discussed now, however, remains anyone’s guess.
Marvel Studios will be entering a new era with mutants after the events of Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, which will feature a ton of major characters. If the studio is indeed pursuing Robbie, there’s certainly no shortage of high-profile roles that could fit an actress of her caliber.
For now, though, fans can only speculate about whether the former Harley Quinn star could eventually find a home in the MCU and, if so, which iconic Marvel character she might bring to life.
