Marvel Studios Announces James Gunn's THE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY HOLIDAY SPECIAL
Disney has confirmed that Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be released in theaters in 2023, but the bigger news here is the fact that it’s been announced that the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is getting a Holiday Special!
Head of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige, announced the news and said that the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will debut in 2022 and revealed that writer and director James Gunn is the guy behind it. Feige also revealed that the holiday special will be shot at the same time as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
Gunn then confirmed on Twitter that his holiday special will be canon and will be in the same continuity as the events of the MCU. He says:
“Yes, the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is real, it’s something that Marvel Studios & I have been cooking up for years. The story is as crazy & fun as can be, & it’s live-action & in the MCU. OH MAN I WISH I COULD TELL YOU MORE!”
He went on to share:
“Even seeing this here makes me laugh. One of my favorite stories ever, which I have bugged Kevin Feige endlessly about over the years. I can’t believe we’re actually doing this. And, yes, I unironically loved the Star Wars Holiday Special as a kid.”
This is going to be interesting, and as a massive fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, I couldn’t be more excited to see what kind of holiday story that Gunn has come up with for these amazingly fun characters!
