Marvel Studios Concept Artist Ryan Meinerding Shares a Very Early Loki Character Design

Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding shared a very early character design for Loki before the first Thor film started pre-production. I wonder if this was created before Tom Hiddleston was even cast in the role.

This is a beautifully made piece of art, and you can see the influence it had on the final design for the character. We don’t know what Loki’s status will be in Thor: Love and Thunder, but he will be back in action in an upcoming Disney+ series.

The show will follow the adventures of Loki after having escaped with the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame. According to previous reports, we’ve learned that he will be traveling through different periods of time while affecting some important moments of history. It also looks like he will be hunted down by the Time Variance Authority, who are basically time cops who patrol the timeline and take down criminals abusing the stream.

It’ll be interesting to see where that series leads him, but we know it will tie into Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness.
