Marvel Studios Hires a Director To Helm THE ETERNALS

We’ve got some big Marvel movie news for you! Marvel Studio is moving forward with The Eternals film and they’ve hired Chloe Zhaol to direct the film. I’m not really familiar with her work, but she most recently directed the indie film The Rider.

She must’ve had a great pitch meeting with the studio because she isn’t a very experienced director and jumping from a couple little indie films to a huge big budget Marvel movie like The Eternals is a huge leap! But, like that they giving young upcoming director like this a chance to prove themselves.

I have no idea if Zhaol will be able to pull this off, but she’ll have a good team of talent behind her to support her and help her out when directing this massive movie.

The script for The Eternals comes from Matthew and Ryan Firpo and here are some details on The Eternals for those of you who aren’t familiar:

Created by Jack Kirby, the story of “The Eternals” is set millions of years ago when the cosmic beings known as the Celestials genetically experimented on humans, creating the super-powered individuals as well as more villainous off-shoots known as the Deviants.

The two groups went on to battle each other throughout history to see which would eventually become the ultimate race.

It was also previously reported that the film will revolve around the female Eternal known as Sersi. She can manipulate cosmic energy to grant herself virtual immortality, invulnerability, and reshape the molecules of other people or objects.

It’s no secret that Marvel is looking to feature more female lead characters in their upcoming Phase 4 of films.

I’m excited about this movie! I loved Jack Kirby's style on this comic series and I hope that this film is able to capture his awesome visual style!

What do you think about an indie filmmaker with no big budget movie experience taking on The Eternals? Marvel has a good eye for directors, so I trust they’ve made a good decision.
