Marvel Studios is Said To Be Developing New Projects Featuring Characters From THE DEFENDERS
Marvel fans have been wondering if and when we might see members of Netflix’s The Defenders team make their way back into the MCU. Those characters consist of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and The Punisher.
Netflix and Marvel did a great job telling the stories of some of those characters and it doesn’t look like Marvel is done with them yet. It was previously reported that “someone very important” at Marvel Studios (most likely Kevin Feige) is a huge fan of Daredevil and Jessica Jones, and that we could see these characters live on in the MCU.
We have an update regarding this thanks to MCU Cosmic who says they’ve “heard from a rock-solid source that Marvel Studios is already in various stages of development on projects that utilize characters from the Netflix Defenders series.”
We don’t know if Marvel is planning on using the same cast or if they are even going to reference the events of the Netflix shows. The report also doesn’t know which characters will pop up first, but they speculate that Daredevil and The Punisher seem like the prime candidates because of how popular they are.
The report goes on to speculate that “The Punisher could be used in a Midnight Sons team with Doctor Strange, Blade, Moon Knight, Ghost Rider, and Elsa Bloodstone (who is also slated for a MCU appearance). And just the possibility of Daredevil interacting with other MCU characters should get people excited.”
Now, we previously heard that Marvel Studios would have to wait until the end of the year to use these characters, but the report indicates that may have changed and that “it’s possible that Netflix allowed them access to them long before the two-year moratorium expired.”
I personally hope that they bring the same actors back from the Netflix shows to play these characters again. But, we’ll have to wait and see if they are going to be completely rebooted or not. What would you like to see Marvel do with these characters?
