Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Says R-Rated MCU Movies Are "Not Out Of The Question"
After R-rated superhero films such as Deadpool and Logan turned out to be huge successes, fans have wondered if Marvel Studios would actually cross the line into R-rated territory one day. The fact that Marvel is owned by Disney tells me there's no way that will ever happen. But, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently said that even though there are currently no plans for R-rated MCU films, it's not out of the question.
During a recent interview with Allocine, Feige was asked about the possibility of an R-rated Marvel movie, and this is what he had to say about it:
"Currently we don’t work on R-Rated movies, it’s not out of the question. but currently, no."
The fact that he says, "it's not out of the question" says that it's something he's open to doing if the right opportunity arises. Right now, they don't really need an R-rated Marvel movie. They are doing fine with what they are doing and we are going to see PG-13 movies all the way through Avengers 4 and beyond. But who knows what they plan on doing down the road in the future. We don't know what's really going on with the MCU after that fourth Avengers film.
Even if Feige entertained the idea of doing an R-rated Marvel film way down the line in the future, it's hard to think that Disney would go for it. We'll just have to wait and see, and we'll be waiting a long time.
Are there any Marvel characters that you'd like to see get an R-rated film that Marvel owns the rights to?
