Marvel Teases New RUNAWAYS Comic Series

As recently shown, Runaways, a Marvel story about children of supervillains who "spoilers" run away, is being turned into a Hulu series. A pretty good place for a story like this. It's comic ran back in 2003 so you might think that the kids in the comic should have moved on, but it looks like Marvel is bringing back the gang for a new Runaways comic series.

Marvel has been begun releasing images spotlighting Runaways as of this week. So far it has only been one of them, but I'm assuming there will be more posted as the week goes on. The first one we get a look at is Nico Minoru. She's the team's magic user. The art is done by artist Kris Anka who just finished working on the Star-Lord comic series. I really liked his art in that and what he is planning with this looks just as good.

I'm most interested in seeing who they will bring back. Or if it will be a new team. Like I said, quite some time has passed since the team first got together and then split up. People have changed, gone through some shit including a Hunger Games-like battle with other teen heroes in a world controlled by Arcade. That was followed by the stint of being secret SHIELD agents undercover in a completely criminal country. One of their team members has even died. Granted, he wasn't one of the original team members, but he mattered for quite some time.

I'm excited about this reboot. I think a lot of good could come from it. Mostly seeing a young team of heroes that aren't sponsored by other heroes. They just want to have lives, which makes for good storytelling.
