Marvel Unleashes First Footage From DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN at D23
Marvel Studios unleased the first footage from Daredevil: Born Again during D23 and it features Charlie Cox's Daredevil and Vincent D'Onofrio's The Kingpin once again facing off with each other. We also get a first look at Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle aka The Punisher back in action!
It’s actually a pretty exciting trailer with some cool footage that teases some of the brutal action that we’d expect from Daredevil.
While it hasn’t officially been released online yet, a low-quality version of the trailer has leaked online, which you can check out below, if you want.
Daredevil: Born Again catches up with Matt Murdock, “a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, and his nemesis, Wilson Fisk, who’s pursuing his own political endeavors in New York.”
At the event, Kevin Feige brought Cox,D’Onofrio, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson and Jon Bernthal to the stage to talk a little about the upcoming show before sharing footage with D23 attendees.
Marvel's Head of Television, Streaming, and Animated producer Brad Winderbaum, previously talked about the series saying it will feature a whole new "political" angle to Daredevil and Kingpin's arch-rivalry.
Winderbaum compared the show to X-Men ‘97: "Daredevil is incredible. It's similar in some ways to X-Men '97 because it's reviving something that the fans love. But it's taking it in a new direction.”
He went on to tease how things have changed, saying: "These characters have matured, the universe is different than it was. Things have changed, society's changed. Matt and Wilson have changed.
“And their characters are gonna collide in ways we've never seen before. It's no longer enough to try to murder each other. There's a whole game of politics at play."
The new series is reportedly inspired by the Devil's Reign storyline, which explores the power dynamics between Kingpin and the vigilantes who stand up against him. The story revolves around the power struggle between Daredevil and Wilson Fisk, who becomes the Mayor of New York City.
D'Onofrio previously talked about the project, saying: "It brings in a lot of cool stories and all the collateral story that happened in those original three seasons. So we now get to start this Born Again situation with all of that history behind us and the outcome of all that history. So we're all talking about Daredevil: Born Again in those terms now."
Daredevil: Born Again is currently being developed by directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, who worked on both Moon Knight and Loki.
