Marvel Wants Michael Douglas To Return For ANT-MAN AND THE WASP
It looks like Michael Douglas will return to reprise his role of Hank Pym in Ant-Man and the Wasp. Douglas had a big role in Ant-Man, and it makes sense for his story to continue, especially if one of the plot points in the film revolves around Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lily) trying to find Pym's wife Janet. There's no official word on if that's what will happen, but it seems that's where the story of the first film was going.
In an interview with Collider, Douglas reveals that Marvel Studios has contacted him that they are ready to start negotiating a deal:
"I just got a call recently – they want to negotiate for a sequel and I thought “That’s great!” Hopefully, I won’t have to carry quite as much expositional dialogue as the first one but I had a wonderful time doing it. Just a great, great time. The cast was fantastic. Paul, Evangeline, Michael Pena – I’m sure he’ll be back. If they can scrape Corey Stoll off the wall, I’m sure they’ll want him too – he’s such a good villain. And Peyton too. It was a lovely experience, so you know, I welcome it. I chuckle about being involved with a movie that already has a release date in 2018... It’s hard to conceive of that, but it’s all good, all the way around, it’s all good."
It's good to know that he had such a great time making the first film and that he's excited to return. I wonder if we'll see Pym put the suit back on. It would definitely be cool if he did! I can't wait to see where this sequel takes these characters.
Ant-Man and the Wasp hits theaters July 6th, 2018.
