Marvel's AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Will Come to an End After Season 7
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is currently in its sixth season run, and a seventh season has already been announced. Well, that seventh season will be the show’s last. It was only a matter of time before this series came to an end, and that conclusion is going to sneak up on us real fast!
According to Deadline, the series will be coming to an end on its own terms, which is great news for fans! It means that we are going to get a proper ending for the series that hopefully won’t leave any loose ends. They will have the opportunity to tie up the stories for the characters before the series comes to a close.
Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb talked about the series coming to an end, saying:
“How many shows do you know that just suddenly ended, and you feel like, but wait a minute, there was more. Yes, in the chronology of this is we thought Season 5 was the end. If you go back and you look at the end of that season, it is written that way. Actually, the last episode of that season is called ‘The End.’ Honestly, we thought we were turning out the lights and going home when we got a call from ABC that said, the material is so strong, do you think you have another season, do you think you have another 13 because we sort of like this idea of doing it again.”
The series stars Clark Gregg, Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Elizabeth Henstridge, Iain De Caestecker, Henry Simmons, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, and Jeff Ward, and they will all be back for the final season.
Agents of S.H.I.E.l.D. has gone in an interesting direction these past couple seasons, especially with Gregg’s character Agent Coulson, who isn’t Agent Coulson now. He’s now a villainous character named Sarge who looks like Coulson.
It’ll be interesting to see how this all comes to an end. When talking about bringing the series to a close Loeb went on to explain that the decisions they make from here on out are real:
“When you know that’s what you’re doing, you can take greater risks, of life and death. Those kinds of decisions suddenly now are real on the table because you’re not playing how do we undo this when we get to the next season. You’re playing that this is going to be the end of the story.”
While the series is supposed to be set in the same universe as the Marvel films, they’ve kind of strayed away from that and started doing their own thing. But when asked if we would see a cameo from Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury before the series ends, Loeb said:
“You have to wait and see. Or as we used to say, that’s a level seven question.”
We’ll learn more about where Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is headed during its big Hall H panel at Comic-Con later today.
Are you happy are sad to hear that this series is coming to an end after Season 7?
