Marvel's BLADE Loses Director Yann Demange
Marvel Studios’ Blade has lost another director. According to The Wrap, Yann Demange is no longer attached to helm the movie, and he parted ways with Marvel “a while ago.”
According to the report, Marvel believes “getting Blade right is much more important than getting the film out.” It’s explained that “the pressure to produce as much content as possible has been lifted,” and the studio now has “some breathing room.”
The separation between Demange and Marvel was amicable, and the script for the film is currently being developed by The Fantastic 4 writer Eric Pearson.
Marvel can and should take as much time as they need to work on all of their movies to get the story and script in a good place before it goes into production.
Mahershala Ali is still attached to star in the film, and he previously offered an update on it saying: “We’re working on it. That’s the best I could tell you. I’m really encouraged with the direction of the project.
“I think we’ll be back at it relatively soon. I’m sincerely encouraged in terms of where things are at and who’s on board and who’s leading the way as far as the writing of the script and the directing and all that. So that’s the extent of what I can tell you.”
Blade will be the second R-rated film to come out of Marvel Studios, the first is Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds’ upcoming Deadpool 3.
It was previously reported that Marvel is looking to go with “a darker tone on this film than other MCU projects have been in the past.”
Mia Goth and Delroy Lindo are also attached to star in the movie.
