Marvel's ETERNALS Almost Featured an Avenger in Post-Credits Scene
There’s been a lot of interesting reactions from the Marvel fans who have watched Eternals. It’s definitely not the most popular Marvel movie and is the lowest rated Marvel movie that’s been released. Most people that I’ve talked to about it say that the best part of the film are the post-credits sequences, which pretty much tease what this movie has set up.
Well, it turns out that one of those post-credits scenes almost included an Avengers character. I’m going to get into some spoiler territory here, so if you haven’t seen the movie yet, I just wanted to warn you.
The post-credits scene I’m referring to is the one that involves Dane Whitman (Kit Harington), who opens up a case to reveal the Ebony Blade, which is a sword from the medieval times that contains a mysterious energy that gives whoever wields it incredible power.
Dane is on the verge of taking up the sword when an off-screen voice in the background says, "Sure you're ready for that Mr. Whitman?" That voice was confirmed to be Mahershala Ali as Blade.
In a recent interview with The Wrap, co-writers Ryan Firpo and Kaz Firpo revealed that they actually considered using Sam Wilson’s Captain America in the scene. They said:
"I think that once upon a time it may even been Sam, or new Cap."
The question is, would they actually have showed Sam or would it have just been his voice? I initially thought that the voice was Doctor Strange, but I guess Marvel just wanted to tease the audience and keep the fans talking about it it after the movie ended. Sam Wilson wouldn’t have really made sense to include because I don’t see how he would have even known about the ancient sword.
Personally, I love that Blade showed up, but it would have been a lot more awesome had the camera pan over to see Blade standing there in the room giving fans a first look at the character in the MCU.
