FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER Creator Reveals Sam Wilson's Greatest Struggle in CAPTAIN AMERICA 4
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has come to an end on Disney+, leaving fans pretty pumped for what is to come in the next Captain America 4, with Sam Wilson, aka Falcon (Anthony Mackie), behind the shield. Of course, the film’s premise is being kept under wraps. Things are early in development, but the show’s creator, Malcolm Spellman, has spoken out about what he believes will be Sam’s biggest struggle in the upcoming film.
Spellman told Everyone Loves a Good Story (via CB) that Sam will have to face the conflict of being a star-spangled superhero who's not a Super Soldier. In the series, Sam and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) grappled with a recreated Super Soldier Serum that was let loose in their universe, and Sam made it clear that he would not take it, instead soaring into the series finale on Vibranium wings gifted to him by Wakanda.
Spellman explained:
"I believe that's going to be his conflict moving forward. It's appropriate. In the action genre, what made Die Hard a classic wasn't who Bruce Willis beat, it was what he went through to beat them. He's walking through glass with no shoes on, you know what I'm saying," Spellman added about Willis' embattled cop John McClane. "That's what people can identify with: 'This motherf—er is just like me and taking on the bad guys.' What better hero than that to root for?"
The series definitely did a great job of making Falcon relatable, including the state of racism in the country, and his being an un-enhanced man who just wants to do the right thing, and be the best and most real Captain America he can be.
Captain America 4 is currently in development. What are you hoping to see happen in the film?
