Marvel's Kevin Feige Reportedly Warned Sony Not to Get Ahead of Itself Building a Larger Cinematic Universe

As you’ve seen, Sony Pictures has been trying to build their own big Marvel Cinematic Universe featuring characters from the Spider-Man side of the universe. Outside of Spider-Man, so far I haven’t been impressed. I’m not a fan of their Venom movies and Morbius might just be one of the worst films ever.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is reportedly still trying to help guide Sony on their Marvel projects and offers notes on all of Sony's Marvel-related properties. He also apparently warned Sony executives to not get ahead of themselves with building a cinematic universe with Spider-Man characters. The Ankler recently reported:

"And yes, Marvel's Kevin Feige does weigh in and offer notes on Sony's Marvel movies that don't feature Spider-Man. One insider credits Feige for guiding Sony's approach and warning the studio not to get too ahead of itself in terms of building some larger universe in the vein of the Avengers movies."

Well, if this actually is the case, it seems to me like Sony is ignoring Feige’s notes and advice. Sony’s Marvel films should be so much better than what they are. I think the reason why is there are just too many cooks in the kitchen at Sony. There are a bunch of executives overseeing these films and they all have a say on what should be in it. There’s no clear vision. Either that, or the creative teams they have working on the movies just aren’t right for the projects.

At least we’ve gotten some great Spider-Man movies!
