Marvel's New MOON KNIGHT Head Writer Says The Series is Going To Be "One Hell of a Ride"
Last week we learned that Marvel Studios hired The Umbrella Academy’s Jeremy Slater to head up the writing team for their Disney+ series Moon Knight. I think he’s a solid choice to take on the project and it’ll be interesting to see what he ends up doing with it.
Slater has since made a statement on Twitter teasing that the series is going to be one hell of a ride. He said:
“I was seven when I bought my first Marvel comic, and my life was changed on the spot. It’s no exaggeration to say that joining the MCU is the single greatest honor of my career. I’m thrilled and terrified and deliriously happy. And while I won’t be able tell you anything in regards to story or casting, I *can* tell that you we’ve assembled a room full of brilliant writers who truly love this character, and we’re all hard at work crafting something special for you. So stick around and stay tuned. Moon Knight is on the way, and it’s going to be one hell of a ride”
Well, hopefully, they manage to deliver a great story! I’m also very curious to see what the costume design for the character is going to be like. It could end up being super awesome or super cheesy. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Moon Knight centers on a character named Marc Spector, an ex-Marine turned mercenary doing work for the CIA. While in Egypt, he’s betrayed by an ally and left for dead. He survives by making contact with a forgotten God named Khonshu the Egyptian Lunar-God of Vengeance and Justice. He is resurrected by Khonshun to serve as his "avatar" as he battles the criminal underworld.
One of the most interesting aspects of the character, though, is that he suffers from a mental illness in which he has multiple personalities. Those personalities include a cabbie named Jake Lockley and a millionaire playboy named Steven Grant. He ends up using these personalities as disguises, and they come to take on lives of their own. This is such a fascinating character!
