Marvel's SHANG-CHI Movie Rumor Describes Fin Fang Foom's Lair and Its Potential Tie to Michelle Yeoh's Character
Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was originally scheduled to hit theaters in February, 2021, but got pushed back, along with the other Marvel titles, to May, and then again to July. We are hoping the date settles in and we get back to seeing our Marvel movies on schedule.
While we have knowledge of the core cast of the film, we have not gotten a whole lot of information on the story. But, some new info from Murphy’s Multiverse has been reported, stating that a huge set for the film has been spotted in Sydney, Australia. Here’s the description:
Murphy’s Multiverse has learned some exclusive details about this set which we now believe to be The Valley of the Sleeping Dragon! First seen in Iron Man #261, The Valley of the Sleeping Dragon is exactly what you expect it to be: the resting place of Fin Fang Foom.
They go on to add:
Our source describes the Valley of the Sleeping Dragon set as a hilly, seaside location with a temple at its center with the greenscreen serving as the seashore itself. The other huts each serve their own purposes but the other noteworthy feature is the large, bamboo structure known as the battle dome which is surrounded by an area where the village’s warriors hone the skills necessary to protect Fin Fang Foom.
They believe this information leads to who Michelle Yeoh’s previously undisclosed character will be, thinking she may portray a fierce protector of this village. For now, this is rumor and speculation that has yet to be confirmed, but it’s a couple more pieces of the puzzle to get us excited for Shang Chi!
The film stars Simu Lu, Awkwafina, and Tony Leung. Lu plays Shang-Chi, the son of China-based globalist who raised and educated his progeny in his reclusive China compound, closed off to the outside world. The son trained in the martial arts and developed unsurpassed skills. Leung plays The Mandarin.
Destin Daniel Cretton (Short Term 12, The Glass Castle) is set to direct the film from a script written by Dave Callaham (Wonder Woman 1984, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2).
Shang-Chi first appeared in Special Marvel Edition #15 in December 1973 and was created by Steve Englehart and Jim Starlin. The character is described as a spy, a romantic, a philosopher, and an Avenger and is one of the best martial artists in the Marvel universe.
Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings hits theaters on July 9, 2021. Are you getting pumped for this film?
