Marvel's SHANG-CHI Film Will Reportedly Introduce Tiger-Claw, Razor-Fist, and More
Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is deep in development and gearing up for production. The highly anticipated martial arts superhero film is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and Simu Liu is set to star.
Thanks to MCU Cosmic, we have some new details to share with you regarding some villains that are being cast that Shang-Chi will find himself facing off with. According to the report the villains that may be included in the film are Steel Claw, who may actually be Tiger-Claw, a major Shang-Chi villain. It’s also said that Moving Shadow, Razor-Fist, and Ghostmaker will be introduced in the film as well.
This is all on top of the main villain Mandarin. While this does sound like a lot of villains in a movie, there’s a reason for that. It’s rumored that the movie may involve a “Bloodsport-style underground fight tournament; and that’s where Shang-Chi could face off against a lineup of characters such as this.” So, that’s awesome and exciting! I hope it’s true!
I’m excited about this movie and here are some details regarding these villains that might show up in it:
Tiger-Claw
Tiger-Claw is an excellent hand-to-hand combatant and highly skilled in various forms of martial arts. He also wears tiger stripe gloves equipped with razor sharp claws.
Moving Shadow
Moving Shadow is the half-brother of Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu. He finally faced Shang-Chi when he helped Fu Manchu, who was disguised as The Ghost, to proceed with an evil scheme.
Razor-Fist
Razorfist is a skilled martial artist with blades replacing both of his hands.
Ghostmaker
Ghost Maker is a skilled martial artist that has mastered the form called naked kill where any object becomes a lethal weapon in his grasp. Ghost Maker gained the ability to heal after his resurrection by the Hand. Ghost Maker uses various weapons from the Orient including katanas, sais and shurikens. Ghost Maker also wears a jetpack that enables him flight.
Shang-Chi first appeared in Special Marvel Edition #15 in December 1973 and was created by Steve Englehart and Jim Starlin. He is the son of a sinister Chinese mastermind and was raised and trained in the martial arts by his father and his instructors. He is described as a spy, a romantic, a philosopher, and an Avenger and is one of the best martial artists in the Marvel universe.
He is eventually introduced to the outside world to do his father’s bidding, and then has to come to grips with the fact his revered father might not be the humanitarian he has claimed to be and is closer to what others call him: The Devil’s Doctor. He also might be centuries old. The deceit makes them bitter enemies.
The film adaptation is also said to “modernize the hero to avoid stereotypes that many comic characters of that era were saddled with. The comic launched around the time that Enter the Dragon became a global sensation and martial arts films raged.”
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings arrives in theaters on February 12, 2021.
