Marvel's "Special Presentations" Not Expected to Move Forward at Disney+

Moving forward, it looks like we won’t be seeing more of Marvel’s Special Presentations like Werewolf by Night and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Bob Iger is back in charge at Disney+, and he is tightening the ship, urging Marvel to trim the fat and focus fully on the projects that matter most. According to scooper Daniel Richtman, the plan is to shelve the specials, as the two previously released underperformed at the streamer. I loved both of these, and my kids rewatched the GOTG Holiday Special so many times, I find this hard to believe, but I do see how features released on streaming don’t bring in the same kind of revenue as theatre releases.

As for the future planned specials including The Witches' Road "Special" expected to follow the series Agatha, as well as "Special Presentations" revolving around characters like Nova and Silver Surfer, all we know right now is they will be "handled differently," suggesting the former could be folded into its series or perhaps released in another format. The other characters will probably be featured in their own ensemble films coming up.

What do you think about this change moving forward?
