Disney+ has announced that the series premiere of Marvel’s The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is the most-watched series premiere ever on Disney+ during its opening weekend. It’s also the most-watched title overall for the same time period on a global basis.

The three biggest premieres on Disney+ are The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Marvel’s WandaVision, and the Season 2 premiere of Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian.

Disney wouldn’t reveal the actual numbers, but SambaTV reports that 1.7 million households tuned into The Falcon and the Winter Soldier last weekend for at least five minutes. That number beats the 1.6 million who tuned into WandaVision‘s opening weekend.

I’m not surprised that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was such a huge hit. Marvel fans love these two characters, and we’re all curious to see how their story arcs play out over the course of the series.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, aka The Falcon, and Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier. The pair, who came together in the final moments of Avengers: Endgame, team up on a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience.

The series was directed by Kari Skogland with Malcolm Spellman serving as head writer, the six-episode series also stars Daniel Brühl as Zemo, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker.
