Marvel's RUNAWAYS Officially Renewed for Season 3; Watch the Announcement Video

After actor James Marsters let the news slip that Marvel’s The Runaways would be renewed for season three over the weekend, Hulu went ahead and made the official renewal announcement and released a promo video for the fans to watch.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve enjoyed The Runaways series, and I’m actually pretty stoked to hear that it’s getting a third season. Showrunners and writers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will return to develop the new season that will consist of 10 episodes, which is down from the 13 episodes from the first and second seasons.

Deadline reports that “Runaways plans to focus on the kids, so the actors playing parents who were series regulars are being reduced from all shows produced to factual series regulars – 7 out of 10.” Schwartz and  Savage had this to say in a statement:

“We are so excited to tell more Runaways stories and are so grateful to Marvel, Hulu, our amazing cast and crew and of course our passionate audience. Season three will be a magical time on Runaways, as we deepen our connection to the Marvel universe. We are honored to continue to play in the sandbox created by Brian K Vaughn and Adrian Alphona.”

Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb added:

“Thank you, Hulu! We’re thrilled that Marvel’s Runaways is back for its third season. “Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage and the amazing writers have something epic in store for our terrific cast.”

There are times when pretty much every teenager thinks his or her parents are evil -- but what if it was actually true? That's the situation six Los Angeles teenagers find themselves in when they stumble upon a terrible secret and realize that their parents have been lying to them for their entire lives. The offspring begin an investigation to try to figure out what their guardians are after, while the adults wonder if their kids are hiding secrets of their own. The unlikely crew of teens bands together -- led by de facto leader and primary strategist Alex Wilder -- to stop their parents before it is too late. The Marvel series is from executive producer Josh Schwartz, whose resume of young-adult fare includes "The O.C." and "Gossip Girl."
