Marvel's WEREWOLF BY NIGHT Director Michael Giacchino Talks About His Pitch to Kevin Feige

One of the things that got premiered at Disney’s D23 convention this year was Marvel’s upcoming Halloween special, Werewolf by Night, which is set to debut on Disney+ next month. The event special was directed by Michael Giacchino, who created the soundtracks for films such as Up, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and The Batman, and it was written by Peter Cameron (Moon Knight) and Heather Quinn (Hawkeye).

The trailer makes it look like it’s going to be a fun watch this Halloween season, but it did seem like a sort of out there property to bring to Marvel. Even MCU boss Kevin Feige agrees! In a recent interview at D23 Expo, Giacchino told ScreenRant (via The Direct):

"It was funny because [Kevin Feige] was talking to me and said, 'So what would you want to do?' And I was like, 'I want to do Werewolf by Night,' and he looked at me like, 'Really? Like really? Werewolf–' I'm like, 'Yeah, that's what I want.' He was like, 'Wow. Okay, alright. Let's talk about that.' And the conversation just kept going, and going, and going, and then, and here we are now."

While Giacchino has directed shorts in the past, Werewolf by Night is officially his Marvel directorial debut. He served as both director and composer on the special, and it sounds like it was a dream come true for him. Werewolf by Night is set to hit Disney+ on October 7th. Are you looking forward to it?
