Marvel's WHAT IF...? Animated Series Will Feature Surprise Cameos From The MCU
Marvel’s upcoming animated series What If…? looks like it’s going to be a ton of fun! The series will explore the past films that were included in The Infinity Saga, but each of the stories will feature one key difference showing how the story would have played out differently.
A ton of members of the MCU cast have returned to reprise their roles for this series. Some of the stories that have been revealed so far include T'Challa as Star-Lord; Zombie Captain America attacking Bucky Barnes; Peggy Carter as Captain Carter, and a little Steve Rogers with WWII tank-style mech armor.
According to What If…? head writer A.C. Bradley there are going to be "more than a few" surprise cameos from actors and characters that have appeared in the MCU. So, we are going to be seeing even more than just the main characters. When talking about the series, Bradley tweeted the following comment:
"I can say that there are more than a few surprising MCU cameos, and characters can and do pop up in more than one episode!"
It’ll be interesting to see what characters end up appearing over the course of the series, which will consist of a total of 23 episodes. Bradley previously talked about the series, saying:
"Kevin said that we will be exploring every movie in a new way, but not every episode is about one movie if that makes sense. On the reel, there is this image of a Star-Lord T'Challa because we wanted to see what if the worlds of Black Panther and the Guardians of the Galaxy collided? That was taking two universes, two to three movies, kind of twisting them in new ways.
"The objective is to hopefully see the majority of characters from all 23 movies. You'll see multiple characters in an episode."
The voice cast includes Michael B. Jordan as Killmonger, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Josh Brolin as Thanos, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Hayley Atwell as Agent Peggy Carter, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Neal McDonough as Dum Dum Dugan, Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Taika Waititi as Korg, Toby Jones as Arnim Zola, Djimon Hounsou as Korath, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, and Michael Rooker as Yondu. The Watcher will be voiced by Jeffrey Wright.
What If…? is set to hit Disney+ in Summer 2021.
